The Orome Valar TH50 Rim Brake Carbon Wheelset is a 50mm deep carbon road wheelset built for riders who want more speed, less weight and a sharper-looking setup without moving to disc brakes.
With a Toray T800 carbon fibre rim, 24K carbon fibre surface finish, ceramic bearing CNC hubs, 52T star ratchet system and Pillar aero spokes, the Valar TH50 sits in that useful sweet spot: light enough for climbing, deep enough for aero gains, and still practical for everyday road riding.
At approximately 1345g, it is a serious upgrade from standard alloy wheels, especially if your current bike still has plenty of life left in it.
Why choose the TH50 rim brake wheelset?
The 50mm rim depth gives you a faster, more aerodynamic feel on flatter roads and rolling terrain, while still being manageable for regular riding.
The textured, grooved rim brake track is designed to improve braking contact by moving water and debris away from the brake surface. Orome also uses a high-temperature resistant resin system rated to withstand temperatures over 280°C, helping the braking surface cope better with heat build-up on longer descents.
The hubs use custom ceramic bearings and a 52T star ratchet drive system, giving quick engagement and smooth rolling performance. Routine maintenance does not require special tools, which is useful if you prefer gear that can be looked after without a workshop drama.
Tyre compatibility
The Valar TH50 rim brake wheels are tubeless compatible and also work with traditional clincher tyres and tubes.
The rim has a 19mm internal width and 26mm external width, making it suitable for modern road tyre setups. Orome lists tubeless tyre compatibility from 23mm to 45mm, although most road riders will likely be using something in the 25–32mm range depending on frame clearance.
