Elves Mori AeroX Custom Gravel Bike Build | Customer Review
Posted by Trevor Barrett on
Can one bike handle fast road rides, gravel adventures and longer days in the saddle without feeling like a compromise?
That was the thinking behind Benny’s new custom-built Elves Mori AeroX.
Finished in custom Litchi White and built around the way Benny actually wants to ride, the result is a sharp-looking aero gravel bike designed to cover plenty of ground on both gravel and tarmac.
Benny’s Elves Mori AeroX review
“Gotta love my new gravel bike, the Elves Mori AeroX. I went with a custom colour in Litchi White, and huge thanks to Trev for guiding me through the whole process.
I’ve put just over 100km on it so far across both gravel and tarmac, and the geometry is incredibly comfortable and easy to sustain on longer rides.
The plan is to eventually replace my road bike altogether and run this as both my gravel and road setup by swapping wheelsets.
Big thanks again to Trev for always answering my questions and keeping me updated every step of the way.”
Why the Mori AeroX made sense for this build
The Mori AeroX sits at the faster end of the gravel-bike spectrum.
Its aerodynamic tube shaping and relatively performance-focused geometry make it an appealing option for riders who want road-bike efficiency without giving up the tyre clearance, control and versatility needed for gravel.
For Benny, that balance was important. This wasn’t intended to be a bike that only came out for dedicated gravel events. It needed to feel comfortable and efficient on sealed roads too.
After his first 100km across mixed surfaces, it is the comfort that has stood out most:
“The geometry is incredibly comfortable and easy to sustain on longer rides.”
That matters when the goal is to build one bike that can take on different roles rather than owning separate bikes that each spend half their time in the garage.
Could one gravel bike replace a road bike?
For some riders, yes.
A setup like Benny’s allows you to change the character of the bike by swapping wheelsets:
- A wider gravel wheel and tyre setup for loose surfaces, mixed terrain and rougher roads
- A lighter road wheelset with faster tyres for sealed-road riding
You still need to choose the gearing and overall build carefully, but the Mori AeroX provides a versatile starting point.
It accepts tyres up to 700c x 45mm or 650b x 50mm, while supporting both mechanical and electronic drivetrains. That gives us plenty of scope to tailor the finished bike around the rider, the terrain and how much road versus gravel use it will see.
Custom colour in Litchi White
A custom bike should look like your bike, not simply another model taken off the shop floor.
Benny chose Litchi White, paired with bold black graphics and deep-section wheels. The result is clean, distinctive and difficult to mistake for anything else.
The Mori AeroX is available in a selection of standard colour combinations, or it can be ordered with a custom paint finish.
A custom build is more than choosing components
There are plenty of decisions involved in putting together a custom gravel bike:
- Correct frame size and fit
- Road-focused or gravel-focused gearing
- Mechanical or electronic shifting
- Wheel depth and internal rim width
- Tyre size and tread
- Handlebar shape and flare
- Bottom bracket and crank compatibility
- Whether the bike needs to cover one role or several
My job is to work through those choices with you and make sure the components form a complete bike that suits how you actually ride.
As Benny mentioned, that also means answering questions and keeping you updated throughout the ordering and build process.
