Ride Mechanic Bike Mix All-Purpose Chain Lubricant (50ml, 185ml, 900ml)
This is an all-purpose bike chain lubricant for cyclists who ride in mixed and changing conditions and want reliable performance across road, gravel, commuting, and year-round use.
Ride Mechanic Bike Mix is designed for New Zealand riding conditions, where wet roads, dusty gravel, coastal air, and unpredictable weather are common. It balances lubrication longevity with cleanliness, making it a practical choice when conditions vary from ride to ride.
Proudly made in Rotorua, New Zealand, Bike Mix suits riders who want one dependable chain lube rather than switching products seasonally.
Trev's Verdict
Choose Bike Mix if you want one chain lube that works across most conditions, including wet weather and longer rides. If you mainly ride in dry conditions and prioritise maximum cleanliness, Bike Cream is the better specialist option.

How to Use Ride Mechanic Bike Mix
Stage 1 – Clean the Chain
-
Degrease the chain thoroughly (recommended for first use).
-
Shift onto the smallest rear sprocket.
-
Shake Bike Mix vigorously.
-
Rotate chain backwards and apply generously at the cassette.
-
Allow Bike Mix to penetrate and flush contaminants.
-
After ~20 seconds, wipe thoroughly with a dry cloth to remove lifted dirt and residue. For heavily contaminated or wet chains, repeat until clean.
Stage 2 – Lubricate & Protect
-
Apply Bike Mix again while rotating the chain backwards.
-
Ensure the chain looks wet to allow full penetration.
-
Allow to dry fully (overnight recommended).
-
Repeat for a thicker film if preparing for endurance rides.
-
Wipe surface residue before riding.
The lubrication remains active inside the chain, keeping the outside clean and dust-resistant.
Important Notes:
-
Always wipe external residue before riding to avoid jockey wheel build-up
-
After wet rides, dry the drivetrain thoroughly and re-lubricate promptly
