What size ELVES bike frame do I need?

Posted by Trevor Barrett on

Choosing an ELVES frameset is exciting. Working out which size to order can feel less straightforward—especially when you’re comparing different models.

It’s also one of the questions Trev gets asked most often. To help, we’ve added an interactive ELVES Bike Sizing Guide. Choose your model, enter your measurements and get a starting recommendation for frame size and handlebar setup.

Here’s what to check before you order.

Start with the model you’re buying

A frame size number doesn’t tell the whole story. Different models have different geometry, so the same size label won’t necessarily give you the same riding position.

If you already ride another brand, don’t assume its frame size transfers directly to an ELVES. Select the exact ELVES model you’re considering in the guide.

The Vanyar Rim Brake isn’t included in the calculator. Use the sizing information on its product page or contact Trev for help.

Take these four measurements

You’ll need a tape measure, a book and ideally someone to help. Measure without shoes and use the diagram in the guide.

  • Height: Stand straight against a wall and measure from the floor to the top of your head.

  • Inside leg: Hold a book firmly between your legs, like a saddle, and measure from the floor to the top edge of the book.

  • Arm span: Stretch your arms straight out to the sides and measure from fingertip to fingertip.

  • Shoulder width: Measure across the back between the outer points of your shoulders—not around your body.

Double-check your figures before entering them. The calculator accepts centimetres or feet and inches.

What if you’re between two frame sizes?

Being between sizes doesn’t automatically mean you should choose the smaller or larger frame.

Your proportions, preferred riding position and cockpit setup all matter. Two riders of the same height can have different leg lengths and reach requirements.

The calculator uses your measurements to help narrow down the options. If the result leaves you choosing between sizes, send Trev your measurements and tell him which model you’re considering.

If you have a current bike that fits comfortably, mention that too.

Check saddle height where specified

For the Falath EXP and Amanyar 1.0, the guide includes minimum and maximum saddle-height figures.

Compare these with your correctly set saddle height, measured from the centre of the bottom bracket to the top of the saddle. This is another useful check before choosing your frame.

Use the recommendation as your starting point

The calculator helps you shortlist a size. It doesn’t replace a professional bike fit or account for every individual fitting need.

Previous discomfort, limited flexibility or a particular riding-position requirement are all good reasons to discuss your setup before ordering.

Ready to check your size?

Open the ELVES Bike Sizing Guide, or contact Trev if you’d like help interpreting the result.
