Tufo Swampero Tyres Review

Posted by Trevor Barrett on

Q. How have you been finding the Tufo Swampero tyres compared to other tyres?

  • Tufo Swampero tyres are quite good when the going gets greasy. Roll easy as well.

  • A. I only have one on the bike (rear wheel). Traction is excellent. Cornering is great. It's quite fast too. I'm not sure it's as supple as the WTBs I had, but the WTBs quality is awful and would not hold sealant.

The build quality is quite good on the Swampero - they have a thick liner to prevent flats.

I've done about 350 km (85% gravel/trail) and have had one flat which sealed itself just fine.

Super easy to install too. Out of the four gravel tyres I've owned (Maxxis, WTB x 2 types and these) the Tufo's are clearly the best in terms of traction, low rolling resistance and build quality.

Q. How do you line them on tarmac? Got quite a bit to cover to get to gravel but looking far a winter tyre.

  • A. They are probably the best knobby tyre for tarmac. Slower than a road tyre for sure, but if you want traction with the low rolling resistance then I'd recommend Tufo Swampero.

They've been measured at about 20 watts which is incredible for a knobby mud tire. The Tufo Thundero measured 17 watts, so sounds like the Tufo Swampero is the right tyre for you.
