In case you have not heard about Factor Bikes here is information on their heritage:

THE FACTOR JOURNEY SO FAR

Factor Bikes was conceived from a commitment to innovation, speed and performance through advanced engineering; our soul lives in technology and integration and our heritage is derived from advanced motorsport and aviation

In 2007 Factor Bikes was born in an unassuming industrial unit in Norfolk, England. Originally an offshoot of bf1systems, a leading engineering firm dedicated to working at the highest levels of design with some of the fastest, most prestigious brands in the world including Ferrari, Aston Martin, Lamborghini, Maserati and many F1, Moto GP, and WRC teams.

2009 saw our first foray into the cycling world with the revolutionary FACTOR001: its unique take on the road racing bicycle was marvelled at for its beauty and unique sophistication being, as it was, years ahead of its time. As we have continued to grow and evolve, that core commitment has not wavered: our engineering team continually pushes the envelope of what is possible.

More pioneering development ensued and in 2012, Factor launched a collaboration with Aston Martin – the Factor ONE-77 £25k Hyper Bike.

In 2013, we unveiled our first production bike, the innovatively aerodynamic Vis Vires that utterly eschewed the UCI rulebook. Combining all that had come before in a truly stunning package, it included a bf1systems-developed power meter, the Twin Vane split down tube and split external ‘Dual Bayonet’ fork. This created a whole new breed of Superbike; one that combined aerodynamics, total system integration and data in one mould-breaking package to secure unanimous critical acclaim from both the world’s cycling press and prestigious design awards.

Early the next year, our engineering team began developing our next generation of frames: the ONE, ONE-S and the O2. While we had worked closely with pro riders in the past, we felt that the changes we were looking to make required a more critical, race-proven, eye. Enter Tour de France Green Jersey winner Baden Cooke. Baden was a top professional for 14 years winning over 50 races. In 2003 Baden sprinted his way to a stage win and the overall Green jersey in the Tour de France beating the likes of Robbie McEwen and Erik Zabel. Baden, an Olympian, rode for powerhouse squads such as Orica GreenEDGE and Saxo Bank.

The more our engineering team worked with Baden, the more valuable his feedback became. And the more Baden worked with our design team, the more he fell in love with what Factor Bikes was looking to do. Then the day finally came that Baden took the Vis Vires out for a test ride and his fate was sealed. Shortly after his first ride on the Vis Vires, Baden developed a partnership with some cycling industry experts and, along with Rob Gitelis, purchased Factor Bikes from bf1systems.

Designed with input from both Baden and David Millar – British Road and TT champion and multiple Grand Tour stage winner – the new generation of Factor Bikes continue to build on this innovative heritage with no compromise luxury performance using only the very highest quality materials, fit, and finishing. All Factor Bikes are an excellent combination of master craftsmanship, the very finest materials, innovative engineering and manufacturing processes all brought together with the highest possible standard of finishing and attention to detail in our wholly-owned factory. This, together with decades of cutting edge engineering and manufacturing expertise, affords us total control of our frames: from concept to design, to testing and production and beyond, we won’t compromise anywhere in our pursuit of aerodynamic and aesthetic perfection and unrivalled, innovative performance.

  • Factor bikes are truely amazing. I own the Factor One and it redefined what I though a race bike could do. I came from a background of Specialized S-Works frames both endurance and race orientated and expected the Factor One to try and match what they offered. The One was so much different, at speed the frame was more stable, I could feel the aerodynamics of the split down tube make the bike handle straight and true. When navigating corners the handling was nimble yet confidence inspiring, with the Otis front end and incredible stiffness of the 2 down tubes I feel the road surface with more definition and know I can push the boundaries further. It goes without saying the straight-line speed derived from the aerodynamic shape and increased stiffness front the hinged fork and split down tube is amazing but the frame is incredibly comfortable. The wishbone seat stays offer amazing flex and compliance, it almost feels like suspension but get out of the saddle and push hard and the BB and response is stiffer than anything I have ridden. Amazing bike and I definitely recommend, Factor have delivered a new level of what an aero bike can offer.
